Employment Opportunities

As part of our natural development, Devon Freewheelers has changed it's legal structure from an 'association' to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation; which allows us to employ core members of staff to assist our volunteer army with our service provision to the public.  It is our policy and also accepted policy, to advertise internally in the first instance if an opportunity is limited to that of a casual, self employed or temporary position (up to 12 weeks) to suitable applicants without advertising externally. 

Where a role naturally develops from a part-time or temporary position to a full-time or permanent position, a variation of contract to existing employees is perfectly acceptable.

Any new permanent positions, full or part-time will be advertised to the general public here and we welcome initial expressions of interest via the contact us section of the website where a full application form including job description will be forwarded to you.

Ambulance Driver 

A temporary short term opportunity has developed for an ambulance driver.  This may be in a car, van or a PTS ambulance for an approximate period of 8 weeks only.  This is to service a specific request for assistance from the NHS which is offering a cost recovery to the charity commencing on August 25th 2019 to October 18th 2019.  The role involves transporting members of the public to their surgery appointments and does not require any medical training.  

The service is required every day, including weekends and public holidays, and is based on a 48hr week.  There is a total of 4 positions available and may include unsociable hours.  The renumeration for this role has been set at the national living wage of £10/hr and is subject to standard deductions.

We welcome applications from individuals, however due to insurance restrictions applicants need to be over the age of 25, with two years driving experience (Category B - Car) with no more than 3 points on their driving licences.  The charity will conduct a driving assessment as part of the application process which must be passed in order for application to progress to an offer.  All applicants must satisfy identity and referencing checks which will include a Disclosure and Barring Service report at an enhanced level.  We do not wish to be approached, nor will applications be accepted from Driving Agencies.
