Amvale audit transplant operation

Submitted on

National Logistics Supply Manager, Mr Simon Hudson flies into Devon to carry out a full audit of the Devon Freewheelers transplant service to Amvale Medical on behalf of NHSBT.  'AMTL has the responsibility to ensure all transport operators meet the stringent grades expected by Amvale Medical Transport Limited and our client NHS Blood and Transplant' says Simon.  Devon Freewheelers have exceeded all expectations.

The service which is supported by Charity Volunteers specifically trained for the role demonstrated true professionalism during the day long visit, which included vehicle inspections, fleet and maintenance checks, driver training, blue light qualifications to name but a few.

Devon Freewheelers started transporting the organs for transplant at the begining of the year and now provide the service throughout the whole of the South West region.  Congratulations to all concerned in the project for exceeding all expectations.

The 24/7 service demands a rapid response from the team, attending calls within 40mins of despatch.  Calls include transporting the Specialist Nursing Team for Organ Donation, human tissue and blood samples for the purposes of testing and of course the organ itself.

If you would like to get involved and volunteer your time to this life saving role within the charity, and have an advanced driving qualification; then we would love to hear from you.  Get in touch via the contact us page
