Warm weather and sunshine greeted the very first Bideford Bike Show. The expected three hundred bikes were quickly surpassed by an exceptional turn out of around fifteen hundred gleaming machines of all shapes and sizes.
The organisers Lisa and Mike Elston, Terry King and DFW’s Marco Oliveira were delighted to confirm that as a consequence of this successful inaugural event, the nominated charities, Devon Freewheelers and Help 4 Heroes received £1,000 each.
The enthusiasm and support of the people of Bideford, and indeed the visiting bikers, officials and all the helpers was overwhelming. All agreed that this event could be bigger and better next year. Such was the generosity and appetite of the biking fraternity that the local economy got a sudden influx of cash as local shops and eateries, which were so in demand, ran out of supplies.
Various ‘Best in Show’ categories, and the attraction of many fantastic bikes and trikes meant that there was always something to look at and much to discuss, as bikers compared notes on the various merits of the respective winners. Numerous raffles and lots of prizes meant that adults and children alike were always lending half an ear to the barrage of announcements.
The planning for next year’s show has already begun!!
